Mr Anthony (Tony) Kiernan is a former solicitor with extensive experience gained over 35 years' in the management and operation of listed public companies. As both a lawyer and general consultant, he has practiced and advised extensively in the fields of resources and information technology. Mr Kiernan has extensive experience as a director of public listed companies and is also currently Non- Executive Chair of Pilbara Minerals Ltd and Venturex Resources Ltd.
Mr Kiernan is Chairman of the Fiona Wood Foundation which focuses on research into burns injuries.
Mr Kiernan joined Saracen in 2018 and is a member of the Audit Committee and the People & Culture Committee.
Mr Raleigh Finlayson is a Mining Engineer with over 20 years of technical and operational experience in the mining industry in multiple disciplines including both underground and open pit operations. Mr Finlayson commenced with Saracen Mineral Holdings as General Manager – Operations in February 2008 and managed the timely completion of the Definitive Feasibility Study and development of the Carosue Dam Operations in 2009. Mr Finlayson was appointed Chief Operating Officer in October 2009 and managed all operational aspects of the business until he was appointed Managing Director in April 2013.
During his time as Managing Director, Mr Finlayson has been responsible for the acquisition and subsequent development of Saracen's second operating mine, the Thunderbox Gold Project. In this time, the business has grown from a market cap of $53m in 2008 to $4.5b in 2020.
Mr Finlayson previously held positions of Underground Manager for Panoramic Resources and various mining engineering roles with OceanaGold and Gold Fields. Mr Finlayson studied at the Western Australian School of Mines and is the holder of a First Class Mine Managers Certificate and a Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance and Investment. He is passionate about mining education and served for 5 years on the WA School of Mines Alumni council.
Mr Finlayson was the recipient of the 2019 CEO Magazine Managing Director of the Year award, the Energy & Resources Executive of the Year in 2014 and was named First Among Equals at the 2018 40 Under 40 Awards.
Ms Langer has more than 25 years’ experience in Professional Services across a variety of sectors with substantial experience in the resources sector, particularly in Western Australia. During this time, she has been responsible for management functions including strategy, business development, budgeting and human resources.
Ms Langer originally qualified as a chartered accountant with Arthur Andersen. After 20 years in Executive Search working closely with Boards and CEO to advise on talent, culture and organisation structure, Ms Langer is currently working as an independent advisor. Ms Langer holds a Bachelor of Commerce from UWA and is currently undertaking an AICD course.
Ms Langer is a member of the People & Culture Committee and a member of the Audit Committee.
Mr Martin Reed was appointed a director on 24 August 2012. Mr Reed has previously held non-executive director positions at Adamus Resources Limited (later merged with Endeavouring Mining Corporation where he was also a director) and Toro Gold Limited (which later merged with Resolute Mining Limited). Mr Reed is a qualified mining engineer (BE Mining, Grad Dip Management, AICD Diploma) with over 40 years experience in operations management and project development across a range of commodities, countries, and sizes of operations. Executive roles have included Chief Operating Officer and Project Manager for a number of metals companies including Sandfire Resources, St Barbara Limited, Paladin Energy Ltd and Windimurra Vanadium Limited.
Mr Reed joined Saracen in 2012 and is the Chair of the Risk & Sustainability Committee and a member of the Exploration & Growth Committee.
Mr John Richards is an economist with more than 35 years’ experience in the resources industry. During this time he has held strategy and business development positions within mining companies as well as in investment banks and private equity groups. He has been involved in a wide range of mining M&A transactions in multiple jurisdictions.
Previous positions include Group Executive - Strategy and Business Development at Normandy Mining Ltd, Head of Mining and Metals Advisory (Australia) at Standard Bank, Managing Director at Buka Minerals Ltd and Operating Partner at GNRI. Mr Richards holds a B Econ (Hons) from the University of Queensland. He is Non-Executive Chair of Sheffield Resources Ltd and a Non-Executive Director of Adriatic Metals plc.
Mr Richards joined Saracen in 2019 and is the Chair of the Audit Committee and a member of the Exploration & Growth Committee.
Dr Roric Smith is a highly experienced geologist with extensive Australian and international experience and is currently a Non-Executive Director for mid-tier ASX-listed copper producer Sandfire Resources NL. Until June 2016, Dr Smith was Vice President, Discovery and Chief Geologist for Evolution, where he played a key role in leading that company's exploration efforts.
Prior to joining Evolution, Dr Smith held numerous senior executive positions with the gold producer AngloGold Ashanti, including as Senior Vice President, Global Greenfield Exploration; Country Manager and Chief Representative China; Exploration Manager - North Asia Region; and Chief Geologist Australia. Dr Smith holds a B.Sc (Hons) Geology and Ph.D from the University of Natal in South Africa.
Dr Smith joined Saracen in 2017 and in is the Chair of the Exploration & Growth Committee and a member of the Risk & Sustainability Committee.
Ms Tough has over 20 years’ experience on public and private company boards. Ms Tough is a Director of Clean Energy Finance Corporation, Chair of Horizon Power and Chair of COAG National Energy Selection Panel.
Previous positions include Chair of Southern Cross Goldfields Ltd, Chair of Retail Energy Market Company, Chair of Aerison Pty Ltd, Chair of Advanced Well Technologies Pty Ltd, Chair of Proactiv Pty Ltd, Director of Synergy, OxMt Pty Ltd, Strike Resources Ltd, Murchison Metals Ltd and Cape LLC. Executive roles include General Manager of North West Shelf at Woodside Energy Ltd, Director of Strategy for Hardman Resources Ltd, Senior Vice President (Natural Resources) at the Commonwealth Bank and Project Director for the Pilbara Power Project.
Ms Tough completed a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Jurisprudence at the University of Western Australia and is a Fellow of the AICD.
Ms Tough joined Saracen in 2013 and is the Chair of the People & Culture Committee and a member of the Risk & Sustainability Committee.
Mr Morgan Ball is a Chartered Accountant with over 25 years of Australian and international experience in the resources, logistics and finance industries. Mr Ball was appointed in December 2016 and as CFO is responsible for managing all of Saracen's financial and commercial matters. Prior to joining Saracen, Mr Ball was Managing Director of ASX listed iron ore producer – BC Iron Ltd and prior to this he was BC Iron's Finance Director, CFO and Company Secretary.
Previously, Mr Ball was CFO & Company Secretary of Indago Resources – an ASX listed company developing the large Nyanzaga gold deposit in northern Tanzania. Mr Ball has also held senior commercial roles at WMC Resources, Brambles and P&O.
Mr Ball is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Western Australia as well as post graduate qualifications from the Financial Services Institute of Australia. Mr Ball is also a Non-Executive Director of Chalice Gold Mines Limited (ASX:CHN).
Mr Simon Jessop is a Mining Engineer with over 20 years of technical and operational experience in the mining industry covering Underground and Open pit operations throughout Australia. Mr Jessop studied at the WA School of Mines in Kalgoorlie achieving a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) as well as a Bachelor of Science (Mine and engineering surveying). He has worked at numerous Gold projects throughout Australia namely WA and QLD as well as base metals exposure in Nickel both at Kambalda and near Leinster. Mr Jessop was appointed in December 2017 and as COO is responsible for managing the operational aspects of Saracen's business. Prior to joining Saracen, Mr Jessop held numerous General Manager roles for Evolution Mining from the company’s inception in 2011 first as General Manager at Cracow, then General Manager for Underground operations covering Pajingo and Cracow and finally as General Manager of their Mungari operation and the broader Kalgoorlie region.
Mr Jessop previously worked for Panoramic Resources as the Operations Manager leading the Lanfranchi Nickel project and was Manager of Projects in the Perth office. Before this he also worked for Byrnecut Mining as the Project Manager at Agnew and Cosmos plus various other roles throughout his tenure. Mr Jessop is the holder of a First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency.
Ms Marianne Dravnieks has over 30 years’ experience in the resources industry and almost 20 years experience in high level human resources support. Prior to joining Saracen, Ms Dravnieks was the Principal Consultant in her own business, prior to that she held senior human resources roles in a variety of organisations. Ms Dravnieks holds a Masters in Leadership and Management (MLM) from Curtin University and a Diploma in Positive Psychology (DPP) .
Mr Ganza is a mining engineer with over 25 years operational and management experience within the gold sector in Australia, Africa and Papua New Guinea. Mr Ganza joined Saracen Minerals as the General Manager Business Development in 2018 and was appointed to General Manager – Thunderbox Operations in March 2020.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) from the University of Queensland and is a holder of a Western Australia First Class Manager’s Certificate.
Mr Daniel Howe is a Geologist with 18 years’ experience, with a variety of leadership roles in open pit and underground operations covering both gold and nickel. Mr Howe joined the Saracen team in June 2011, as the Resource Development Manager and has since fulfilled the Mine Geology Manager role before transitioning into his current role. Prior to joining Saracen Mr Howe was involved in the successful commissioning of the Athena Gold Mine operated by Gold Fields, St Ives. Mr Howe is a member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the Australian Institute of Geoscientists.
Mr Troy Irvin has over 20 years’ experience in the mining and finance industries. Current responsibilities include business development and investor relations. Prior to joining Saracen, Mr Irvin was Director - Institutional Research Sales at Argonaut, a corporate advisory, stock broking and investment house focused on natural resources. Mr Irvin also has over 10 years' operational and management experience in gold and base metals with Barrick, MIM and Western Metals. Mr Irvin holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) from the WA School of Mines, and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment.
Mr Jeremy Ryan joined Saracen Gold Mines in March 2012 as Manager - Legal. Mr Ryan was admitted to practice in 1998 and has extensive experience in advising on the development and operation of mining and infrastructure projects.
Prior to joining Saracen Gold Mines Mr Ryan worked as a lawyer for a native title representative body, State and Federal government departments and in the Finance & Projects team of a large international law firm.
Mr Williamson is a mining engineer with over 20 years of experience in the underground hard-rock mining industry. He has a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) with Honours from the University of Wollongong and a First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate. His experience covers a broad commodity sector at operations in WA, Qld, NSW and Africa for both mid-tier and large multinationals. He has held several senior management roles, prior to joining Saracen he was the General Manager of CBH Resources Rasp Mine in Broken Hill.
