Safari Bore was previously mined by Sons of Gwalia and is located 4km to the West of Deep South (80km from the Carosue Dam processing plant). There is potential for a cut-back which would have synergies if mined concurrently with the nearby Deep South pit.
As was the case with Karari, the initial scoping study at Safari gave favourable results when considering a further cutback. Safari Bore has a strong track record with regard to reconciliations, and was Carosue’s best performer. Safari Bore is also well advanced, well understood technically, with the full suite of metallurgical testwork, geotechnical logging and designs, resource estimates (more recently with the inclusion of high density grade control data) and hydrological modelling all having been completed. The groundwater at Safari Bore is of good quality and there are opportunities for this and the Deep South water to be utilised at the Carosue Dam plant.
The average head grade from future cutbacks is likely to be sub 3g/t, contributing higher grade feed to the processing plant and boosting the overall head grade of the operation.
